Small Bus “TAYO” Wears Hangeul on the Run
The new “small bus TAYO,” designed with a collaboration of Hangeul design and the traditional pattern DB, will be presented on the Hangeul Day. With the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Jongdeok Kim, referred as MCST) and the Korea Culture Information Center (Head Kyeongho Choi, referred as the center), the Hangeul designer, LEE GEON MAAN, took the charge of design in “Hangeul Day, Ride Bus” campaign using Hangeul and the traditional pattern DB. The 5 “Hangeul TAYO Bus” will be providing fun and enjoyment to the public in Seoul for a month, from the 9th of October. For this event, Dongah Woonsoo Co., Ltd, (Representative Jinwook Lim), has provided the buses and participated in creating the new values of the traditional patterns and Hangeul design through a cooperation with the public and businesses.
Collaboration of the Active and Colorful Hangeul and the Traditional Patterns
This year, the characters of “Small Bus TAYO” that are loved by children were applied in the design by combining with Hangeul and the traditional patterns, in order to raise the awareness of the excellence of our culture, by cooperating with relevant organizations. Designer Lee Geon Maan described his design as “a design of Hangeul components in the colors that children love on a sky-blue background.” He added, “The 3 dimensional elements are added on the design using the images of rainbow, Lego puzzle and fireworks.”
Participating in the Event of “Hangeul Day, Ride Bus” Campaign through the Culture Portal
The “Hangeul Day, Ride Bus” event was promoted in various ways on and off lines. Especially, the TAYO buses, with Hangeul and the traditional patterns on them, are going to stop in front of the National Hangeul Museum from 10am to 6pm on the 9th of October, in celebration of its opening. The ‘Hangeul Day, Ride Bus’ campaign event is expected to allow the children to get closer to Hangeul and our culture. Moreover, on the culture portal (www…), online events including ‘creating acrostic poem with the names of traditional patterns’ and ‘writing comments to celebrate the opening of the museum’, for 2 weeks from the 6th of October. During the period, the museum will be giving out Hangeul and traditional patterns-related gifts through the lucky draw.
Worldly Renowned Hangeul Designer, LEE GEON MAAN
The designer LEE GEON MAAN combines the Hangeul and the traditional patterns with fashion to create the unique design codes of ‘LEE GEON MAAN.’ It is expanding its business through collaboration works with various brands for handbags, wallets, neckties, scarfs and other fashion items.
