Hangeul, the Worldly Recognized Official IT Language (From the perspective of international exchanges) May be languages are too familiar to be the target of the attentions. Yet, Hangeul, Korean written language, is strongly attracting the attentions from the whole world. Hangeul has the high product values that make Hangeul to be used in promoting Korea. Nevertheless, we are the only ones who are still unaware of this ironical phenomenon. Is it really possible to promote marketing on Korea using Hangeul? The answer is simply yes. I can never forget what I saw at the Hanrue Exhibition opened in Paris, France, 3 years ago. There, my company was exhibiting and selling various products that has the theme of Hangeul. There were over 500 people in a line outside, waiting for the entrance, and there were just too many young people crowded around the exhibition booths. From the faces of people looking at the Hangeul products in the exhibition, I could see a reflection of their curiosity on and desire of purchasing the Hangeul items. Some young visitors even lingered in front of the exhibition booths for the whole day, staring at the products. What we saw at the exhibition was totally shocking. What could possibly have attracted so many people to stare at the Hangeul products for the whole day, and even for several days? Korean people no longer feel special about Hangeul, which can be found as easily as the air. Nor they are aware of the fact that Hangeul is an ‘intellectual property’ of ours that has priceless values. Such reality felt so distanced from what I have experience in Paris, France, making me feel bitter.
